A very rare, plaster death mask of an infant child. Under a glass dome and mounted upon a solid oak plinth.
Dating to the early part of the Victorian period this is a touching memorial to a young child. It is a pity we do not know the family details but we can surmise this infant was loved and cared for to have such a momento-mori made.
Finished with a green patination this is a truly remarkable piece. With the passing of approx. 150 years there has been some chipping and re-touching to the plaster but we feel this only adds to the overall character.
