Double helix Gordon Russell

Double helix Gordon Russell sideboard.

An iconic piece of mid century design, an R407 Utility sideboard presented in a fabulous restored condition. We are confident in saying it will be difficult to find an item of vintage furniture approx 70 years of age in such good condition.

Constructed in mahogany with Bombay rosewood to the doors which have a machine cut decoration, a routed groove in the distinctive double helix pattern which exposes the white birch below.

Originally designed for the 1951 Festival of Britain this has gone on to become a design classic that is held in the V and A archives and the Gordon Russell museum in Broadway, Cotswolds.

Restored with a new matt lacquer surface finish and with only minimal evidence of previous use.
